With public swimming pools opening comes summer fun for an entire community. That is, assuming the pool is in good condition. Pool damages, particularly leaks, can halt enjoyment and cost you a lot of money in water waste. Here are three of the most common warning signs of public swimming pool leaks.

Three Warnings Signs of Public Swimming Pool Leaks

  1. Water loss. It’s normal for pools to lose water as time goes by and water evaporates, but noticeable drops in water level are one of the biggest side effects of public swimming pool leaks. With a leak, the water in a pool can quickly drain into the ground around it rather than resting in the pool itself, so if the water in a pool isn’t where it’s supposed to be, there’s a problem.
  1. Cracks. Concrete is the go-to building material for swimming pools because of its strength, reliability, and longevity. Therefore, cracking indicates a pretty big problem. Leaks cause water to drain and rest outside of the pool, and when this water fills the surrounding ground, the ground becomes unsettled and creates force strong enough to crack the pool’s concrete surface.
  1. High water bills. When reviewing the water bill for your public swimming pool, a recent spike without a known reason is cause for concern and likely the result of a leak. Public swimming pool leaks often announce themselves prominently in the form of increased water bills for property managers with pool autofill features.
